“Luna truly shines both in photos and in life. She’s the sweetest, cuddliest, most loving dog I’ve ever known. But her journey to my home is a reminder of how important responsible pet ownership is, especially when it comes to spaying and neutering. Luna was part of two large litters born to the same family— 14 puppies in total. It was an overwhelming situation for them, and none of the adult dogs had been fixed. When I learned about the puppies, I told the family I would take Luna only if they agreed to get all the dogs spayed and neutered. Thankfully, they did. From the moment she came into my life, Luna has brought nothing but joy. She’s playful, gentle, and loves nothing more than curling up beside me for a nap or greeting everyone she meets with a wagging tail. Her story is a cautionary tale with a happy ending — but not all animals in similar situations are so lucky. Every time I look at her, I’m reminded of the difference we can make when we choose to act. Luna may be just one dog out of many, but to me, she’s everything.
