Our May 2025 Calendar Pet is Ramses! Read this sweet remembrance of Ramses and the impact he made on a local family, below.
"Ramses Barden Keller, left us in May after 17 glorious years. He was an abandoned pup, one of a litter of four boys. The most shy of the group but we fell in love instantly as he crawled into our laps at the shelter. Loyal, loving, sweet, right from day one, for the first few years he lived in Portland, Oregon with our son, and then he came home to SLO and stayed here with us forever. Our older dog at the time, Junior, welcomed him and they were forever best friends, and then Ramses welcomed Fiona into the family and, with his gentle soul, immediately became her older brother. Ramses loved life. He loved the simple things of daily walks, even when it became hard for him as he aged. He never complained, never. He brought joy to everyone. When he passed away, all of my son’s housemates from the college days texted him to say how special Ramses had been to them all during college. A sensitive, smiling best friend, who loved his annual birthday cakes... that was Ramses."
