Happy September from our Calendar Pet of the Month- Cleveland!
Fifteen years ago, my son begged me for a cat. I was one of the most dog-oriented people you would ever meet. When I did succumb to his request, my co-workers looked up in the sky when I told them we had gotten a cat and said, “We thought for sure we would see pigs flying.” That four-month-old tuxedo kitten from the Santa Barbara County Animal Shelter is turning 16 years old next month. His “boy” has since gone off to college and will soon be married. He asked to take Cleveland with him after college but my husband had grown too attached. It took Cleveland ten years to think I was “worthy” enough for him to sit on my lap; that was five years ago. He knows that I am a dog-person at heart, but he will be just one of two cats to ever leave paw prints on my heart. He has done a good job over the years sharing his space with loud and unruly beagles and has only on a few occasions had to swat them when he could no longer deal with the dogisms. What a good guy; long live Cleveland the Great!
